چکیده
Eye detection is a necessary processing step for many face recognition algorithms. For some of these algorithms, the eye coordinates are required for proper geometric normalization before recognition. For others, the eyes serve as reference points to locate other significant features on the face, such as the nose and mouth. The eyes, containing significant discriminative information, can even be used by themselves as features for recognition. Eye detection is a well studied problem for the constrained face recognition problem, where we find controlled distances, lighting, and limited pose variation. A far more difficult scenario for eye detection is the unconstrained face recognition problem, where we do not have any control over the environment or the subject. In this chapter, we will take a look at eye detection for the latter, which encompasses problems of flexible authentication, surveillance, and intelligence collection. A multitude of problems affect the acquisition of face imagery in unconstrained environments, with major problems related to lighting, distance, motion and pose. Existing work on lighting [1, 2] has focused on algorithmic issues (specifically, normalization), and not the direct impact of acquisition. Under difficult acquisition

متن کاملRobust Iris Recognition in Unconstrained Environments
A biometric system provides automatic identification of an individual based on a unique feature or characteristic possessed by him/her. Iris recognition (IR) is known to be the most reliable and accurate biometric identification system. The iris recognition system (IRS) consists of an automatic segmentation mechanism which is based on the Hough transform (HT). This paper presents a robust IRS i...
متن کاملLabelled pupils in the wild: a dataset for studying pupil detection in unconstrained environments
We present labelled pupils in the wild (LPW), a novel dataset of 66 high-quality, high-speed eye region videos for the development and evaluation of pupil detection algorithms. The videos in our dataset were recorded from 22 participants in everyday locations at about 95 FPS using a state-of-the-art dark-pupil head-mounted eye tracker. They cover people with different ethnicities, a diverse set...
متن کاملA New Method for Eye Detection in Color Images
The problem of eye detection in face images is very important for a large number of applications ranging from face recognition to gaze tracking. In this paper we propose a new algorithm for eyes detection. First, the face region is extracted from the image by skin-color information. Second, horizontal projection in image is used to approximate region of the eye be obtained . At last, the eye ce...
